Your notes and personal information
HandiNotes lets you store titles, text fields, notes, login details, passwords, images and categories. This information is stored locally on your devices. We do not receive your library, operate a server that stores it, or have access to its contents or encryption keys. You do not need to create a HandiNotes account.
HandiNotes does not include advertising, tracking technology or third-party analytics SDKs. It does not automatically send us usage information, device identifiers or diagnostic reports.
Storage and Apple Watch syncing
Your saved library is encrypted on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Encryption keys are held in each device's Keychain. If you use the companion app, HandiNotes transfers an encrypted copy of your library to your paired Apple Watch through Apple's WatchConnectivity service. The watch retains a local copy for offline viewing.
HandiNotes does not provide iCloud library sync. Its live library database is excluded from automatic device backups.
Photos, camera and device authentication
You may choose images from Photos or Files, or allow camera access to photograph something for an entry. Selected images are stored in your library and may sync to your paired watch. They are not uploaded to us.
Optional app locking uses Apple's device authentication, such as Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. HandiNotes receives the authentication result; it does not receive your biometric templates or device passcode. You can manage camera permission in iOS Settings and app locking in HandiNotes Settings.
Purchases
HandiNotes Pro is an optional in-app purchase processed by Apple. HandiNotes uses Apple's StoreKit service to verify purchase entitlement and restore purchases. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple's handling of purchase and payment information is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Backups and information you choose to share
HandiNotes Pro allows you to export an encrypted backup to a location you choose in Files. A separate recovery key is required to restore it. If you save a backup or key with a cloud storage provider, that provider handles those files under its own terms and privacy policy. Anyone with both the backup and its recovery key can read the backup's contents. We cannot recover a lost recovery key.
When you explicitly copy information to the clipboard or export files, you control where it is used or shared. Copies outside HandiNotes are subject to the destination's security and privacy practices.
Support correspondence
If you email handinotes.support@devpool.co.uk, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include. We use this information to respond to your request and investigate the issue. Email is handled by our email service provider. Please do not send passwords, recovery keys, complete backups or sensitive note contents.
Support correspondence is retained as needed to resolve and follow up on your request and meet applicable legal obligations. You can contact us to request deletion of your support correspondence, subject to those obligations.
Retention and deletion
Your library remains on your devices until you delete entries or remove the app's local data. Deletions made on the iPhone are reflected on the paired watch after a successful sync; an offline watch may retain its previous copy until then. To remove local copies from both devices, delete the app from both your iPhone and Apple Watch. Removing the app does not delete backups, recovery-key files, clipboard contents or other copies you have exported. Manage those separately wherever you saved or shared them.
We cannot remotely retrieve or delete your local library because we do not have access to it. Without a usable exported backup and its matching recovery key, losing your device or its encryption key may permanently lose your library.
Policy updates
We may update this policy when HandiNotes or its privacy practices change. The effective date above identifies the latest revision.
